Guests boarding the Maharajas’ Express should arrive at least an hour before departure at a designated venue in Delhi for pre-boarding procedures.

Foreign nationals must ensure they have a valid Tourist Visa and a passport valid for at least six months from their departure date from India.

Day 1: Delhi to Jaipur – Sunday

Welcome aboard the Maharajas’ Express!

Your adventure begins early this morning as you gather at the Delhi Safdarjung station at around 7:00 AM to complete your check-in formalities. The train departs for Jaipur at 8:15 AM.

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast onboard, followed by a tour briefing where you’ll meet the facilitators who will guide you on this exciting journey.

Afternoon Adventure: Amber Fort

After lunch, deboard to visit the stunning Amber Fort. Nestled in the rugged hills, this fort is a captivating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh, the fort’s red sandstone and white marble façade hide a beautiful inner paradise that combines art and architecture.

A short jeep ride will take you up to the fort, where you’ll explore the royal apartments with breathtaking views of the gorge. Step back into the Mughal era as you enter the Chamber of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal) and the Hall of Victory.

Evening Comfort

Return to the luxurious comforts of the Maharaja Express, where you’ll enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner onboard.

Day 2 – Jaipur – Monday

After on-board breakfast, deboard to visit the City Palace galleries including the Textile Museum, Arms Museum and Arts Museum.  Admire the famous Sterling Silver Vessels entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. The vessels are said to be made from 14000 silver coins without any joint and were used by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II to carry the water of the Ganges to drink on his trip to England in 1901 to attend King Edward VII’s coronation.

Return to the train for lunch. Post lunch relax onboard or you may choose to participate in the optional activities.

In the evening, proceed for an exclusive dinner at the Rambagh Palace Hotel. The Palace built in 1835 AD was the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur from 1925 to 1957, when it was converted into a luxury hotel. The palace retains its royal splendor with hand-carved marble latticework and elaborate gardens.

Return to the comforts of Maharajas’ Express as it leaves for Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore).

Day 3: Ranthambore and Fatehpur Sikri – Tuesday

Morning Safari in Ranthambore

Arrive early in Sawai Madhopur for an exhilarating safari in Ranthambore National Park. Once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas, this park was declared a national treasure in 1973. It’s renowned for sightings of tigers, sambar, chital, nilgai, wild boar, and more. Spotting the elusive tiger or shy leopard is a true highlight!

Your early morning game drive will be in open vehicles, providing an immersive experience in the wild. Remember to dress warmly during the winter months, as the ride can be bumpy and dusty.

Return to the Train

After your safari, return to the comforts of the Maharajas’ Express and enjoy a delicious breakfast as you travel toward the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. Watch the landscape transform while savoring a delightful lunch onboard.

Exploring Fatehpur Sikri

Upon arrival at the quaint Fatehpur Sikri station, disembark to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the imposing gateways, the halls of private and public audience, and the intricately sculpted palaces with unique water features. This red sandstone city, built by Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century, reflects a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architectural styles.

Evening Journey to Agra

Return to the train as it continues to the magical city of Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. With its stunning monuments and picturesque setting, Agra is truly a legendary city steeped in history.

Day 4: Agra – Wednesday

Morning Visit to the Taj Mahal

Start your day with a visit to the world-famous Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This stunning mausoleum, built by Shah Jahan for his beloved queen Mumtaz, is a masterpiece of white marble adorned with intricate inlay work and marble screens. Around 20,000 of India’s finest craftsmen dedicated their skills to create this poetic marvel.

Breakfast with a View

After exploring the Taj Mahal, enjoy a delightful breakfast at Taj Khema, a picturesque lawn with breathtaking views of the monument.

Leisurely Afternoon

Evening and Onward Journey

As evening falls, return to the train for dinner as you continue your journey to Orchha.

Day 5: Orchha and Khajuraho – Thursday

Morning in Orchha

Disembark at the Orchha railway station to explore the charming village of Orchha, known for its rustic lifestyle. Visit the historic Orchha Fort, built by the Bundela rulers in the 1500s, overlooking the scenic Betwa River. A short Tuk Tuk ride will immerse you in the vibrant village life. Afterward, return to the train for a hearty breakfast.

Journey to Khajuraho

Enjoy a relaxed lunch onboard as the train travels through some of the most dramatic and picturesque landscapes toward Khajuraho.

Exploring Khajuraho

Khajuraho is famous for its stunning architecture and exquisite sculptures. Built between 950 and 1050 AD, the temples are remarkable examples of Indo-Aryan architecture. The intricate engravings vividly depict a wide range of human emotions and relationships.

Upon arrival, embark on a tour of the magnificent temples of Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the western group of temples, which showcase the peak of Chandela art, including the Kandariya Mahadev Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Return to the Maharajas’ Express for an ‘Indian Evening’ as the train proceeds to Varanasi.

Day 6: Varanasi – Friday

Morning Arrival in Varanasi

Known as one of the oldest living cities in the world, Varanasi (also called Kashi or Banaras) boasts a spiritual legacy spanning over 3,000 years. This vibrant city, set along the banks of the holy Ganges, is a pilgrimage site filled with lively bazaars, bright silks, festivals, and a mix of temples, mosques, and palaces.

Exploring Varanasi

After disembarking, head to Hotel Taj Ganges for lunch. Post-lunch, visit the ancient ruins of Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first sermon, laying the foundations of Buddhism.

Next, enjoy a visit to a Silk Weaving Centre, where you can shop for the renowned Banarasi silk saris and brocades.

Evening on the Ganges

Embark on a scenic boat cruise on the Ganges, culminating in a magical evening aarti at the ghats, where the river comes alive with lights and chants in a spiritual ceremony.

Return to the Train

After a day filled with exploration, return to the comforts of the Maharajas’ Express. Dinner will be served onboard as the train departs for Delhi.
